German sentences for badminton players

Welcome to my second blog post based on our season 6 ‘Ask Angelika’ shows with practical or useful sentences you might hear or use yourself in certain scenarios.

Today we’re covering sentences you might hear or need when playing a game of badminton in Germany.

Kommst du mit Federball/ Badminton spielen?
Are you coming to play badminton?

Kann ich einen Badmintonschläger ausleihen?
Can I borrow a badminton racket?

Möchtest du Einzel oder Doppel spielen?
Do you want to play singles or doubles?

Badminton läuft in “Sätzen” ab.
Badminton is played in ‘sets’.

Wer zuerst 21 Punkte erreicht, gewinnt den Satz.
Whoever reaches 21 points first wins the set.

The first to win two sets wins.
Wer zuerst zwei Sätze gewinnt, hat gewonnen.

Fehler! Der Federball wurde ins Netz geschlagen!
Error! The shuttlecock was hit into the net!

O nein, der Ball ist im Aus!
Oh no, the ball is out!

Wir brauchen neue Federbälle.
We need new shuttlecocks.

What can you do with these sentences to remember them?
