How to use Spotify to learn German

Do you listen to music on Spotify?

If you don’t know what it is, Spotify is an online music station. You can listen for free or pay a subscription. If you listen for free you’ll get to hear some adverts every so often between the songs.

If you go to https://www.spotify.com/ and register you can then either download it to your PC or listen from the web page. Either way there are lots of playlists to suit your musical tase.

So, what does this have to do with learning German?

The Goethe Institut has started a play list  Pop from Germany. Currently there are 50 German pop songs to listen to – what a great way to have some German music in the background! Edit August 2015: things constantly change. Some songs have been taken off, others added – makes it even more interesting! The Goethe Institut has now more than one playlist.

I just wish the adverts in between the songs could also be in German  🙂

Of course, you can also look for other German songs, but if you don’t know what to look for, this playlist is perfect – happy listening!

Another edit 2019: You can now also listen to me on Spotify ☺ Ask Angelika playlist
