German authors: Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

“Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (28 August 1749 – 22 March 1832) was a German poet, playwright, novelist, scientist, statesman, theatre director, and critic. His works include plays, poetry, literature, and aesthetic criticism, as well as treatises on botany, anatomy, and colour. He is widely regarded as the greatest and most influential writer in the German language,” (Quote Wikipedia) and that’s why he shouldn’t be missing on my blog. 😉

How much do you know about him?

Of course, you could just carry on reading the page on Wikipedia or you could use your German knowledge by learning about him with German text or videos, like the following:

Klexikon has a lovely easy German text about Goethe.

A website for German primary schools has a slightly more difficult text: Wer war Johann Wolfgang von Goethe?

Or watch one of the following videos:

Goethe – sein Leben | ARTE Junior

Unterrichtsmaterial: Johann Wolfgang Goethe (only available to watch on YouTube)

Goethe. Skizzen eines Lebens | Ein Zeichentrickfilm zu Goethes Wirken in Weimar

How much did you understand of the texts and/ or videos?

Do you need help reaching your goal of German fluency? I can help you. Message me

Pin it now, read it later!
