“Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller (10 November 1759 – 9 May 1805) was a German poet, playwright, historian, philosopher, and physician. Schiller is considered by most Germans to be Germany’s most important classical playwright.” (Quote Wikipedia)
So I’ve searched the internet to see if I could find some information about Schiller in German for you and I did, some easy, some not so easy.
- Easy(ish), aimed at German primary school children: Friedrich Schiller
- A bit harder: Friedrich Schiller: Dichten für die Freiheit
- Or: Friedrich Schiller
- Quite difficult: Dichter dran: Friedrich Schiller
This video gives you a tour of Schiller’s house (aimed at German children, so a little easier commentary)
And if you’d like to learn more about him, but in English, watch this video:
If you’d like to read one or more of his poems, you can find them here: Friedrich Schiller – Gedichte
Or have a look at some of his quotes: Zitate und Sprüche von Friedrich Schiller
I’ll leave you with one of his quotes which is quite appropriate for German learners ????
Früh übt sich, was ein Meister werden will.
‘Tis early practice only makes the master. (Quote from Schiller’s Wilhelm Tell)
